July 2010 - Workshop on Developing Research Capacity on Assessing Community Livelihood Vulnerability to Climate Change Impacts in Central Vietnam and Mekong River Delta

  Place :  Can Tho, Vietnam 
  Detail :  The workshop is part of the research capacity building project  under Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN)’s Scientific  Capacity Building for Climate Change Impact & Vulnerability  Assessments program. The workshop was organized together with Can Tho  University in order to discuss the following topics:
 •	Current risk from climate and socio-economic change and local response from local perspectives;
 •	Interaction among key sectors in the study sites, especially when response to climate risk;
 •	Plausible future of the society based on socio-economic scenarios;
 •	Framing future risk and vulnerability profile of the sectors & society at the selected study site
 This workshop also focused on planning frameworks and reviewing  methodology in assessing climate change risk, vulnerability and  adaptation at pilot study sites in Mekong River Delta and Central  Vietnam. After the workshop, the research team went on a field trip to  An Giang province in Mekong River Delta and Quang Nam and Don Giang  Province in Central Vietnam to see example on the impacts of climate  related threats and to speak with local stakeholders and officials.
